Here are as many of the frequently asked questions we could think of about the dediserve Cloud Virtual DataCentre offering. We'd love to hear from you if we've missed any or to discuss specifically how the solution might meet your needs.
Almost anything you'd like! With full root access, KVM access and the ability to create, destroy, stop, reboot and reinstall at any time, a cloud datacentre is just like having your own personal datacentre. You can build machines any time you like from your resource pool, and quickly and easily add resources to the pool as you need. Our cloud machines run everything from website hosting to email, ruby applications, DNS servers, VOIP Phone Systems - pretty much anything you can run on a standard x86 server.
There are no limits. No limits per server, domain, email address, database or anything else. With your initial resource pool you could create one large server with 10GB of RAM, or 20 small servers with 512MB of ram, for example. You are not tied to any specifications at all, and could build an 8 core server with 1GB of ram and 1TB of disk if you wish. There are no restrictions. The key proposition here is flexibility at a low price.
Yes - and for free too! Every cloud machine you build includes a single backup slot that can be used to take a complete image of your machine. You can backup manually at any point (ideal for rollbacks when deploying something new) or leave it to the system to take an automated weekly backup, you can restore the daily snapshot at any time through your dediserve control panel.
The cloud datacentre is designed to be extremely simple to manage from a technical as well as commercial point of view. Simple, monthly billing allows you predictable, fixed monthly costs which are inclusive of all the services you need. CPU and RAM resources are added per NODE. A Node is 2 CPU, 1GB RAM and 25GB SAN and is just €30 per month. You can add Storage on it's own at a cost of just 30c per GB per Month, this charge includes 1GB of outbound transfer, and includes backups of the storage. The only other costs are for public IP's (€1 each per month) and if you wish us to license Windows Machines under the SPLA.
Simply reboot the machine, or if you have lost data, revert to one of your recent backups!
Absolutely, and at any time - you have the control! Think of the cloud machines just like dedicated physical servers that you might have in a datacentre or at the back of the office!
Absolutely, the cloud datacentre includes 10 public IP addresses and you can add more for just €1 per IP per month.
All billing is done on a monthly basis. This keeps your bills simple and predictable. If you add nodes or SAN during the month, you will be billed pro-rata to the next billing cycle date. As a Cloud Virtual Datacentre partner, you avail of pricing that is 33.3% under our retail rates!
Both depend somewhat on the amount of data in your cloud machine. Upgrades typically take less than 5 minutes. Downgrades are very dependent on the amount of data in your machine, and can take more than 30 minutes.
Dediserve provide a range of migration solutions to allow the migration of data (files, folders, databases) between two providers as part of an incoming migration service. The standard Dediserve migration process consists of the transfer of files, folders and databases between the old server and the new Dediserve machine. This migration process does not include the installation, configuration or migration of software (standard or custom) or any operating system configuration files (examples being MySQL configuration, anti-spam configuration etc). Once the data has been migrated between the two machines, the migration process has been completed. End users are responsible for the installation and configuration of any additional software, modules or applications that are required to allow the transferred websties to operate.
With our world-class control panels and automation systems, and easy to use tools, we have invested heavily in allowing our customers to manage their cloud experience easily and with minimal support overhead. This keeps our costs down and the prices you pay low!
